All has been relatively quiet on the tax front so far in 2017 with little coming out over the Christmas break as expected.
With a number of new regimes still in Bill form that have application from the start of the 2017-2018 income tax year we are expecting to see a few of these Bills passed before 31 March. In particular, this includes the Taxation (Annual Rates for 2016-17, Closely Held Companies, and Remedial Matters) Bill.
While having no direct tax implications the Prime Minister announced on Wednesday the date of the next general election as 23 September 2017. As with any election change, if any, the governing party can have a corresponding effect on the tax system so this will be a date to keep in the back of your mind.
