Polson Higgs is delighted to announce that the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants has awarded Fellowships to Ray Polson and Michael Turner. Fellowships are conferred on members of the Institute who have demonstrated outstanding service to the accounting profession, or to the community. This year only 24 Fellowships were awarded. Ray and Mike join the other recognised members of this exclusive group at Polson Higgs. Stephen Higgs, Phil Broughton and Graham Crombie are also Institute Fellows. | |

Ray Polson Ray is a founding partner of Polson Higgs and was the Chairman of the partnership for 10 years. Over his long career, Ray has established significant experience in the local government area and has shown significant leadership in this area in helping local government organisations. In addition, Ray holds a number of high profile directorships. He has also, over a number of years, been involved in the not for profit sector, particularly in relation to the Shipwreck Relief Trust and more recently New Zealand Land Search and Rescue. |

Michael Turner Michael is responsible for the Polson Higgs tax division and has specialised in tax since 1992. Over this period he has lectured and tutored at the University of Otago in tax and run a significant number (in excess of 30) national courses on behalf of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants helping their members stay up to date with tax issues. In addition he has been a member of the NZICA tax committee, contributing to the tax policy debate and liaising with the Inland Revenue Department, Treasury and Government on tax policy issues. Michael is also a past Chair of the Otago Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants, as well as a current member on the Otago Branch Committee. |
