International Track Meet Update

Polson Higgs sponsored and attended the International Track Meet at QE11 Stadium on Thursday March 18th.

Around 20 people attended and were treated to a mild evening and a range of exciting track and field events.

The feature event of the evening was the Men’s 800 Metres which was won by Australian Jeff Riseley with a time of 1 minute 47.75 seconds.  New Zealand silver medallist Nick Willis came second and there was only a second in it – his time was 1 minute 48.12 seconds.

Polson Higgs sponsored the Men’s Under 23 Years1500 Metres which was won by Daniel Balchin of Otago.

Other key events included The Women’s 1500 Metres, won by Bridey Delaney of Australia, and the Women’s Discuss Throw, won by Dani Samuels, also of Australia.  New Zealand medallist Beatrice Faumuina came second.

The programme included javelin, high jump, long jump. Shot Put, hammer throw and a 2000 metre walk.
