Graham Crombie Appointed Chairman of the new Board of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants

The President and Council of The New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants recently announced the Directors of the new Board being formed following the restructuring of the Institute last year.

The new Board takes office on 1 July 2009.

Graham is CEO and a partner of Polson Higgs.  He was the president of NZICA in 2008 and has a long history with the Institute.

Other directors are:

  • Liz Hickey
    Liz is a Fellow of NZICA and past member and Chair of the NZICA Financial Reporting Standards Board, a member of the NZ Securities Commission and Adjunct Professor, Dept of Accounting and Finance, University of Auckland.
  • Murray Jack
    Currently Chief Executive of Deloitte, Murray brings wide governance experience and knowledge of the principles and practice of business and information strategy.
  • Allan Newman
    Allan is a Fellow of NZICA and has been an NZICA Councillor since 2005 and member of the National Public Practice Committee since 1999 (Chair in 2009). He is Director of Sadler Oakly Newman Limited, Chartered Accountants in Masterton.
  • Craig Norgate
    Craig brings broad knowledge of governance and extensive executive experience. He is Director of Rural Portfolio Investments Limited, Director and Chair of PGG Wrightson and was Chief Executive Officer of Fonterra from its formation in 2001 to 2003.
  • Neil Paviour-Smith
    From 2001 Neil has been Managing Director of Forsyth Barr. Neil is currently a Director of New Zealand Exchange Limited (NZX) and of Global Corporate Credit Limited.

The non-member Directors are:

  • Doug McKay
    Previously Chief Executive Officer of Sealord Group Limited, Doug is currently Executive Chairman and CEO of Independent Liquor (Auckland and Melbourne). He has extensive experience as a Director of listed and private equity companies and in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Hugh Rennie QC
    A Barrister in commercial and public law, Hugh specialises in medical, media, and aviation law. He is a Director of the Bank of New Zealand, The Marketplace Co Ltd (Chair), and M-co International Ltd (Chair). He is also a Trustee of the Theatre Arts Charitable Trust.

  • NZICA Second Vice-President, Ross Jackson FCA
