Focus on Efficiency and Productivity (28th August, 2009)
Cost control, efficiency improvement and finding new customers are the main challenges facing South Island business leaders during the next five years.
This was revealed in a recent survey conducted by chartered accountancy firms Polson Higgs and McCulloch & Partners.
“As a firm, Polson Higgs is responding to the same issues being highlighted in the survey,” Mike Rondel, a partner at Polson Higgs, says.
Economic Survey Shows Cautious Optimism (28th August, 2009)
South Island business leaders expect a slow recovery in trading conditions as a result of the economic recession but their response to an independent survey reflects cautious optimism.
The survey was conducted by two of the South Island’s leading chartered accountancy firms, Polson Higgs and McCulloch & Partners.
The two firms have been conducting such surveys since August, 2007, to obtain better information on the issues facing South Island business leaders and the strategies they were employing to address those issues.

A big thank you to all of our clients who contributed to our recent client survey. It is very helpful to receive feedback directly from our clients and we will now look to use that feedback to continue to improve our services.
The results of the survey were very positive and, we believe, reflect our commitment to providing top level service to our clients.
We measured 17 aspects of our performance on a 7 point satisfaction scale and all had mean scores of 5 or better, including 12 with means scores of 6 or better. The top five aspects were:
