Thanks for all the feedback from my blog highlighting Tom Peters thinking last time. Another author and thinker I follow is Ric Payne of Principa. In a recent post Ric relayed the following story.
John Maxwell in his book Your Road Map For Success, refers to a report published in 1986 about a research experiment in a San Francisco school. The Principal called in 3 teachers and said: “because you three teachers are the finest in the system and you have the greatest expertise, we’re going to give you ninety selected high-IQ students and we’re going to let you move these students through this next year at their pace to see how much they can learn.”

As I noted last post I have spent my holiday break doing some thinking and a wide range of reading. Tom Peters has always been a favourite of mine (tompeters.com).
I was lucky enough to meet him a couple of years ago and I have followed his thinking since then as he challenges organisational thinking. In a recent post he responded to the question he is often asked – what are some “strategies/‘secrets’ for surviving the recession?
Fraud Happens

Welcome back to 2010. I hope everybody has had a good break and is feeling positive about the year ahead. I have taken the opportunity to refresh and start thinking about the issues facing our clients and how we can help.
One issue we are starting to see come through is that of fraud in the workplace. Fraud always increases in a difficult economy. One of the articles I was reading was from a member of the Leading Edge Alliance, a group of firms we are involved with around the world. I have set out some of the key points below raised in the article below.

I’m sure you have all heard the cry – stop working in your business and start working on it! Easy to say, hard to do – especially in these difficult times.
The fact is however you will be unable to improve your businesses growth, profitability and value without dedicating time to specific ON activities that contribute to the bigger picture of your business.
