Michael leads the Audit and Assurance Services Division at Polson Higgs. He has extensive experience both in New Zealand and overseas in providing professional services to medium to large-sized corporate entities and is also involved with a large number of not for profit and public sector organisations.

His areas of expertise include: Assurance-related assignments (internal and external audits), due diligence, systems review, project management, risk management, business valuations and providing advice on governance issues. Michael also has a particular focus on the Education Sector. He has undertake a number of statutory appointments roles at Schools on behalf of the Ministry of Education as well as providing advisory services to a number of Board of Trustees.

Canterbury born and bred, Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Canterbury.  He is also active within the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants, where is a member of the National Public Practice Advisory Group and Chair of the Canterbury/Westland Branch Public Practice Committee.

Married with three children, Michael is a keen sports enthusiast and enjoys cricket, golf, and running for fitness.
