Martin is a senior business consultant with Polson Higgs. Martin has been a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants since 1986 and has been involved with offering business and consulting services to local business over that period. His areas of interest include forecast modelling, business restructure, turnaround and business advisory services.

Martin & Vanessa and their two children (both at Rangiora High School) live on a small lifestyle block in Mandeville, North Canterbury. This is also home to their nine dogs (mainly Border Collies but with the odd Retriever and other breeds), a cat, horse, chickens and a few sheep.

His many sporting interests include golf, dog agility (made famous by Tux Wonder dogs) and cycling.
