Polson Higgs

Polson Higgs Community Involvement

One of our key values at Polson Higgs is our commitment to our community.  The firm likes to acknowledge the many and varied contributions our own people make to community organisations.  The sponsorship and voluntary time and expertise given to sporting cultural, educational, welfare, religious or other groups is of real benefit to the community.

Supporting United Way New Zealand

Polson Higgs staff support United Way in two ways: some contribute to United Way by payroll giving.  In addition, some staff members volunteer on the local allocation committee which visits charities who benefit from United Way donations.

United Way NZ has come up with an effortless way for New Zealanders to donate to charity – Payroll Giving.  Through this system you can donate $5 (the cost of one Flat White / Latte) or whatever a week to a whole range of charities in your community through your payroll – it’s so easy, you won’t even notice.  Your donation is tax deductible and could go a long way to making a significant difference in many people’s lives.

United Way NZ is an independent, non-religious, non-political, not-for-profit, volunteer based organisation that works alongside individuals, businesses and the community to provide resources (money, time, skills) to charities in your community.

Community Services Award

Words for the horse: “Horse” was part of the ensemble of characters that was created by ceramist Jim Cooper for his famous show of over 800 ceramic characters depicting famous musicians of the 1970s. The ensemble started out at the Dunedin Art Gallery and toured several centre’s of the North Island and was eventually sold to a wealthy collector. Luckily Horse stayed in the South.

We request nominations for this award on an annual basis. The recipient’s community organisation receives a $250 donation from the firm.  In addition the staff member receives a silver pendant engraved with the logo of the organisation (as well as a second pendant to adorn “Horse”) along with $250 of grocery vouchers for themselves.

Polson Higgs Comedy Club

For the past three years, Polson Higgs has been proud to support the Fringe Festival in Dunedin by sponsoring the Polson Higgs Comedy Club.

All too often, chartered accountants can be seen as being too serious and this opportunity to sponsor the arts provided much needed sponsorship to the Fringe Festival and also provided Polson Higgs the opportunity to allow their clients to enjoy some quality New Zealand and international comedians.
