How Sustainable Are We?

One of the problems we have in our business is the huge number of fads that come and go. Often these new ideas are simply old ideas repackaged. As we become more connected to the world through our professional relationships, social networking and the internet in general we have the ability to access more and more information and ideas. This is a good thing as long as we have some sort of framework to judge if the information is any use to us.
I was lucky enough 18 months ago to have a conversation with Doris Drucker, the widow of the management guru Peter Drucker. At 92 Mrs Drucker was in great form and about to give a presentation to a conference in Sydney.
Never Too Old!

It has been nice to come to the end of a hectic week and get a chance to reflect on what happened.
For the first couple of days I was in Sydney, meeting with chief executives of firms involved in Leading Edge, the international alliance Polson Higgs works with. In a separate meeting I also met with the firms we are involved with working in India. It is great to spend time with people facing the same issues as I am and share approaches.

Welcome to my second blog and thanks to all those who provided feedback from my first effort. It has been an interesting couple of weeks since my first post. We continue to see information in the media painting a gloomy picture but I am detecting a more balanced view of issues facing our economy and businesses.
We have run some staff sessions looking to balance the information out in the market and we are starting a series of client functions on 3 April on a similar theme.
