Accounting for Non Accountants (30th November 2010) This one day course looks at the process of financial reporting and accounting. One way to look at it is to think of two paintings. The first painting looks at how we, as accountants, paint the picture. In other words, why certain figures are in certain places, why certain figures are grouped together and why figures seem to add up in the set of accounts. The second painting is about “telling the story” i.e. what is the relationship between certain figures, what are some of the figures telling us, and what can we understand from the make up of the figures. For people who have no accounting knowledge, but have a desire to understand the make up and meaning of the figures, this course will demystify accounting practices and principles. For those who have some accounting knowledge, this course will serve as a refresher of current accounting practices used by accountants and preparers of financial reports. |
