This month we are excited to announce Polson Higgs staff promotions and . . . also make a farewell

Phil Broughton retires

PhilBroughton
After 38 years, Phil Broughton has decided now is the right time to retire.
Phil commenced as a Partner of Polson Higgs on 1 January 1997, later becoming a Consultant in March 2011. Phil's experience as a Chartered Accountant, Mentor and Business Advisor has played a very important part of our success and we will surely miss seeing him around the office, although he assures us he will still pop in regularly.
One of Phil's favourite quotes came to light during his leaving speech, "Businesses don't do business, people do business", as he reflected on all the Polson Higgs staff and importantly the many clients he has enjoyed working with over the years.
Phil will remain actively involved in supporting many organisations, however, he will now have more time to spend with family . . . and on the golf course!
We thank Phil and wish him all the best for the future.

We are delighted to announce a new Partner and Associate

RyanAndCarole
We are pleased to announce two significant senior promotions within the firm. Carole Adair has been promoted to Partner and Ryan Ehlers to Associate, effective 1 April.
Carole Adair will join existing Polson Higgs Partners, Henry van Dyk, Michael Turner, Steve Dunbar and Tim Dunn. Steve Dunbar says, "The addition of Carole to our Partner group is a fantastic development. Carole has extensive experience and strong relationships with clients and her appointment will further support the growth of our Business Advisory services".
Carole started her accounting career in 1986, after graduating at the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Commerce. Her career began with Lawrence Anderson Buddle, which later merged with Price Waterhouse, and she was part of the team in 1997 when Polson Higgs was formed. Aside from her work with many family-owned businesses, Carole also has a strong interest in the charities and health sectors and has supported many local organisations. Carole says, ". . . that after more than 30 years, I still love going to work every day and working with our talented team. However, the best part of my role is working closely with clients, some of which I've been working with since the start of my career".
Ryan Ehlers has been a Manager in the Tax Division and is now promoted to Associate. Ryan joined Polson Higgs in 2012 after also studying at the University of Otago, completing an LLB and BCom. Ryan gained admittance to the Bar in 2012 and his Chartered Accountant's qualification in 2015. Ryan is thrilled about joining the Executive Management Team at Polson Higgs and says, "I'm really looking forward to helping drive the direction of our business, particularly around our client service and advisory developments".

Assistant Manager

It is also with pleasure that we announce Courtney Adams has been promoted to Assistant Manager. As well as her normal accounting work, Courtney is our resident Xero specialist, and works hard to ensure clients and staff are making the most out of the Xero platform.

Two Senior Accountants

Amelia McDonald-Nairn and Brad Suddaby have been promoted to Senior Accountants. Both Amelia and Brad started with our Graduate programme at Polson Higgs in 2016. It has been fantastic to see their development and knowledge grow over this time, and we are excited to see their careers develop further.
